A Lifelong Passion for Fishing
Andres, you mentioned that fishing has been a part of your life since childhood. Can you tell us more about your early fishing experiences with your dad?
“Fishing has been a significant part of my life. My dad took me fishing from a young age, whether it was at the San Gabriel River catching carp or at Seal Beach hooking sting rays. Those moments ignited my lifelong passion for the sport.”
Reflection and Relaxation
What does fishing mean to you beyond just the act of catching fish?
“Fishing is more than just waiting with a bait. It’s a time for self-reflection, planning for the future, or simply enjoying the view and relaxing for a few hours away from home.”
Keeping It Fresh
How do you keep your fishing experiences exciting and varied throughout the seasons?
“Every year, I mix things up to keep fishing fresh. In the winter, I target perch on the surf with ultralight rods for a fun challenge. In spring, I focus on carp during their spawning season, trying to catch the biggest one possible. Summer brings opportunities for leopard sharks and rays, and I often visit the pier for fresh mackerel and sardines.”
Annual Adventures
What are some of your favorite annual fishing trips?
“Late summer through fall, I go on a yearly boat trip to Catalina Island with friends, targeting sculpin, sheepshead, and whitefish. I also make sure to go fishing during my trips to Mexico, where I fish for catfish and snapper from my family’s ranch and at the beach in Manzanillo.”

What do you enjoy most about your role at SGV PATROL?
“I find great fulfillment in helping to protect high-net-worth clients who have previously tried traditional security companies. It’s rewarding to watch them realize the significant difference we make in their security needs.”
